Our Team

Families usually come to The Nebraska Cremation Society at a difficult and unfamiliar moment. They may not know what happens next, who has authority to make decisions, how long cremation takes, or what must be completed before cremation can occur.

Our role is to make that process clear.

We are a Nebraska cremation-focused organization operating under licensed professional oversight, documented procedures, and defined standards of care. We explain what needs to happen, establish the proper authority, protect identification, complete required documentation, and carry out each step in the right order.

Our purpose is simple: to make sure everything is handled correctly, documented properly, and carried out in a clear sequence so nothing needs to be second-guessed later.

For families who want to understand the process before making decisions, our What to Expect materials explain each stage step by step

Greg Nabity

Funeral Director & Certified Cremation Specialist

Greg Nabity serves as Funeral Director and Certified Cremation Specialist for The Nebraska Cremation Society.

With more than four decades of licensed funeral service experience, Greg provides professional oversight for the standards, procedures, and decision-making that guide the organization’s work.

His approach to funeral service was shaped early by witnessing the quiet dignity shown to his own grandfather. That experience continues to influence how he believes families should be served: with clarity, competence, restraint, and respect.

As a CANA Certified Cremation Specialist and past president of the Nebraska Funeral Directors Association, Greg brings a deep understanding of cremation standards, regulatory requirements, identification safeguards, documentation, and chain-of-custody responsibility.

His focus is not on pressure or performance. It is on making sure the process is handled correctly.

Under Greg’s leadership, The Nebraska Cremation Society operates through defined procedures, written authorization, careful communication, and professional accountability.

Families are given information before decisions are required, questions are answered plainly, and each step proceeds only when the required authority and documentation are in place.

Greg’s role reflects the first responsibility of the organization: to make sure the cremation process is governed by professional judgment, legal authority, and disciplined care.

Karleen Taylor

Office Manager

Karleen Taylor serves as Office Manager for The Nebraska Cremation Society and is often one of the first people families speak with when they contact us.

She understands how important that first conversation can be. Families may be tired, uncertain, or unsure what needs to happen next. Karleen approaches those conversations with calm clarity, careful listening, and a steady presence.

Karleen joined the team full-time in 2022 after several years of part-time service. She brings a strong background in customer care, organization, and case coordination.

Her work helps families understand:

what information may be needed
what documentation must be completed
who may need to provide authorization
what steps can wait
what must happen before cremation can proceed

Behind the scenes, Karleen helps manage documentation, authorizations, permits, case information, and communication with families and professionals.

Her attention to detail supports the integrity of the entire process.

Karleen’s role reflects one of the central standards of The Nebraska Cremation Society: important information should be clear, documented, and handled in the right order.

Through her work, families receive steady communication and practical guidance without being overwhelmed.

Mike Brigham

Decedent Care Specialist

Mike Brigham serves as Decedent Care Specialist for The Nebraska Cremation Society. His responsibilities center on the physical care, transfer, identification, and custody of those entrusted to our care.

Much of Mike’s work happens away from public view, but it is essential to the integrity of the cremation process. From transfer into care through cremation coordination, his work supports the careful handling of identity, custody, and documentation.

Mike brings steadiness, precision, and accountability to his role. He is attentive to identification safeguards, chain-of-custody procedures, and the small details that help protect a family’s trust.

Whether coordinating a transfer, assisting with care, or supporting a family during a sensitive moment, Mike works calmly and respectfully.

His role reflects a core responsibility of The Nebraska Cremation Society: identity must be protected, custody must be traceable, and care must never be rushed or assumed.

Mike helps ensure that dignity is maintained not only in what families see, but also in the careful work that happens behind the scenes.
