Information, clarification, and next-step guidance

You do not need to know everything before contacting The Nebraska Cremation Society.

If a death has occurred, if cremation is being considered, or if you simply need help understanding what happens next, you may contact us for information and guidance.

A conversation allows us to explain the process, clarify what information may be needed, and help identify the next appropriate step.

Contacting us does not create an agreement, initiate services, authorize transportation, authorize cremation, or require immediate decisions.

All services proceed only after legal authority is established, required documentation is completed, selected services and pricing are reviewed in writing, and authorization is provided.

If a death has occurred, it is common to feel uncertain about what must happen first.

You may contact us for guidance about:

  • What documentation may be required
  • Whether transportation can proceed

You do not need to have complete information before making contact.

If something is unknown, we can help clarify what questions need to be answered.

General Contact Form

Please use this form to request information or ask a general question. Submitting this form does not initiate services, create an agreement, authorize transportation, or authorize cremation. A licensed funeral professional may contact you to clarify your question and explain appropriate next steps.

If You Are Ready to Begin Arrangements Review

If a death has occurred and you are ready to submit basic information for professional review, you may use the Begin Arrangements Review page.

That process allows a licensed funeral professional to review the circumstances, identify what documentation may be needed, and explain next steps.

Submitting information for review does not initiate services or authorize cremation

Professional or Referral Contact

Healthcare professionals, hospice teams, nursing facilities, hospitals, county officials, clergy, cemeteries, guardians, veterans’ service officers, and other professional partners may contact The Nebraska Cremation Society for coordination or clarification.

Professional contact may be appropriate when:

  • A death has occurred and the family may be considering cremation
  • Hospice, hospital, or facility staff need to understand next steps
  • A county, guardian, or responsible party needs clarification
  • A church, parish, clergy member, or cemetery needs practical coordination
  • A professional needs to confirm who should be contacted
  • Documentation, authority, or timing questions need to be clarified

Professional communication is based on clear identification of the parties involved, confirmation of legal authority when action is requested, and coordination of the appropriate next procedural steps.

No action is taken without verified authority and required authorization.

Professional / Referral Contact Form

Please use this form for professional referrals, coordination questions, or post-death procedural clarification. Submitting this form does not initiate services, authorize transportation, authorize cremation, or establish legal authority. A licensed funeral professional may contact you to clarify the situation and identify appropriate next steps.

Working With Churches, Parishes, and Cemeteries

Some families choose cremation while also working with a church, parish, clergy member, cemetery, or religious community.

In those situations, The Nebraska Cremation Society coordinates the practical details selected and documented with us, such as cremation care, documentation, transportation, timing, obituary information, and communication.

Religious, theological, liturgical, cemetery, and denominational requirements are determined by the appropriate church, parish, clergy, cemetery, or governing authority.

Stated simply:

The church leads the ministry and theology. The Nebraska Cremation Society coordinates the details selected and documented with us.

For Catholic families, parish guidance is especially important. Families should speak with their parish about Funeral Mass expectations, committal practices, liturgical requirements, cemetery placement, and the proper handling of cremated remains.

Before Services Proceed

Before any services proceed:

Legal authority must be established

Required information must be reviewed

Selected services and pricing must be provided in writing

Required documentation must be completed

Authorization must be provided

Requesting information, submitting a contact form, or speaking with us does not replace those steps.
