Robert H
Townley
Dec 16, 1953 — May 2, 2026
What an honor to celebrate the life of a man who lived well, loved deeply, and was devoted to serving others with compassion, humility, and grace.
Above all else, Robert would want others to know he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! He was always willing to share his Faith and how it impacted his life for the better and how much he was going to enjoy Heaven!
Robert H. Townley (Bert) was born on December 16, 1953 to Robert J. Townley and Irma (Mockabee) Townley in Ogallala, Nebraska.
He spent his childhood, along with his identical twin brother George and younger brother John, initially in Ogallala and the majority in Oshkosh, Nebraska until he graduated in 1972 from Garden County High School.
His favorite childhood memories were the summers he spent up in the Colorado mountains "His Mountains" as he still called them. His family had a cabin along with cousins and other family members and close friends. They fished, explored, played games, and cherished the great outdoors from sun up to sun down. His heart and mind always drifted back there.
In 1974 he married Sheila Hagedorn, and for 36 years they built a life rooted in Faith, Family, and Devotion until Shelia's passing in 2010.
They have left a lasting legacy within their 3 children, their spouses, and 9
Grandchildren.
Robert invested the years of his life gravitating to any career, effort, or energy where he could be of service to others. EMT, Police Officer,
Home Builder and Remodeler, Mentor, Chaplain, and Pastor.
And, even up until 6 weeks before he passed, he was driving little preschoolers to school! Oh how this filled his heart with so much joy to help these little ones!
As a Minister and longtime Chaplain serving in both an elder care facility and 2 law enforcement agencies, he faithfully walked beside people during some of life's hardest moments, offering comfort, wisdom, and unwavering compassion.
Robert was a man of quiet strength - gentle yet steadfast, humble yet impactful. He carried peace into every room he entered. He was fondly known as "Mr Fix It" and his "Townley Touch" for home maintenance and repair often had a double meaning for people who were hurting. Once referred to as an armrest for weary souls to lean on. He literally woke up every day with gratitude, joy, grace, and forgiveness.
He also laughed often and he NEVER missed an opportunity for a good pun, a Dad joke, or a perfectly timed one-liner. He just couldn't help himself even when he knew the eye rolls would happen and the
"Oh Grandpa" would soon follow if it was too corny.
Besides his Bible and his Family, Robert had other passions and simple pleasures he enjoyed in life. His daily coffee, or 2, cooking for others, watching golf on Sunday afternoons and his beloved Cornhuskers and College Football Season. He loved music - especially violin - and he was always up for any adventure.
Robert got a second opportunity at Love when he married Stacey Prinzing in 2013 and as partners they have continued to invest the last 13 years to be of service to others. It was like his heart began to beat again. He embraced life with a new enthusiasm and vitality. He welcomed experiences with a different level of freedom and confidence. Especially when they would discover an opportunity for a "Fabulous First"which involved participating in a memory making activity they hadn't encountered before. And of course the motto - Dessert First!
Other mottos included: leave people, places and things better than you found them and "Make a difference every day, by blessing someone in some small way"
He also opened his heart to 3 more bonus children, their spouses, and the births of 10 more bonus Grandchildren.
Robert embraced this last health obstacle with an amazing attitude desiring to still have a positive impact on others and helping people understand you can still have joy in a journey of hardship and still balance gratitude with the grief.
Robert was welcomed into Heaven on May 2, 2026 in his home in Aurora, NE surrounded by his loving Family.
He is now reunited and rejoicing with his parents, Robert John Townley and Irma (Mokabee) Townley; his identical twin brother George Louis Townley: and his late wife of 36 years Sheila (Hagedorn) Townley.
Those still loving him this side of Heaven are his wife Stacey Prinzing (Townley); his Daughter Amber Reiter (Chris), their children Audrey (Beau) Johnson, Katelynn, Caleb, and Eli. Son Robert Townley II (Kristi) their children Gavin and Darlene. and Son Jason Townley (Shelly) their children Angel, CJ, and Josh. His brother John Townley and wife Patty Townley.
His bonus children Jake Thiel (Brenae), Justin Thiel (Alexa) and Jeremy Thiel (Mersaydes); bonus Grandchildren Emma, Sophia, Avery, Olivia, Isabel, Blake, Eloise, Jackson, Riggs, and Jameson;
