Paul Dunlap of Lincoln died of cancer on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha. Paul Andrew Dunlap was born August 7, 1955 to Dr. James H. and Ara Jane (Hill) Dunlap in Norfolk, Nebraska. He attended Grant Grade School and graduated from Norfolk Public High School in 1973. After one year of study at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Paul spent 8 years pursuing a variety of opportunities that suited his wide-ranging interests, including managing various musicians, doing carpentry in a cabinet shop, and working for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. In 1982 Paul returned to study at UNL, eventually acquiring in 1989-1990 both a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, and a Bachelor of Arts in English. During those years, Paul worked as a computer operator at First Federal Lincoln Savings and Loan. After graduation, Paul worked in the labs at SmithKline Beecham Animal Health (later Pfizer). He took a break from the lab to attend Lincoln School of Commerce and acquire an Associate Degree in Information Technology, after which he ran his own computer repair business. In 2005 he went to work for Kawasaki, where he was employed until the time of his terminal illness. He was preceded in death by his father and an older brother, Dr. Patrick S. Dunlap. He is survived by his mother, Ara Jane Dunlap; three sisters, Mary Virden, Ann Wollard, and Sarah Heckathorn; and a daughter, Kelly Schlesiger. Pauls wishes were for cremation and no services.
