Michelle Ann (Shelly) Burkey of Lexington died March 23, 2025 at Bergen Mercy, Omaha. She had been suffering from declining health for a few years. She was born to Georgia (Boggs) and Rodney Burkey on October 21, 1970. She attended school both in Overton and Lexington. She worked at several different trades throughout her life, including convenience stores, running a laundromat in Florida, Fed Ex in Grand Island and Arby's and Taco John's in Lexington. She LOVED fishing with her son, watching her grandkids grow, every single animal, true crime podcasts, yard sales, books, horror movies and most of all her family. She was a truly kind person who literally "gave the shirt off her back" by donating her organs so that others have a chance to live. She will live on through others and would urge you to donate if you're able. Those left to mourn her are her children, Joe Burkey of Elwood, Taneesha Strackbein of York, her grandchildren, Ellena, Lailah, Nathalie and Rodney Burkey, siblings, Troy (Gayle) Ogg of Lincoln, Tonia (Todd) Wade of Douglas and nephews, James Dean of Lincoln and Jacob Dean of Exeter. She will be cremated and a celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
