Michael David Flowers born January 3, 1956 in Lincoln, to Robert & Kathleen Flowers. Michael attended Lincoln Public Schools through the 12th grade, Milford Community College, Nebraska Christian College in Norfolk. In about 2006, Mike retired after 30 years at Glass Contractors due to complications from COPD. In May of this year he went on Hospice with Pathways to Compassion, staying in his home till August 1st when he went to Holmes Lake Care Center. He passed away on September 1, 2016 at the age of 60. His mother Kathy and sister Cheryl were by his side when he went home to be with Jesus Hobbies were designing and making stained glass for family and friends. He loved plants, especially flowers, and his porch was filled with many pots and hanging plants. He took up Landscape photography after he retired. Mike's life was a life of giving. He graciously opened his home for a family member or friend who needed a temporary place to stay. He generously provided a gift of money to help someone out of a tough spot. Mike also adopted a child through a Christian Organization for several years Special in Mikes life was the Bob DeWitt family. He gave special attention to their children Kelsey, Zach and Brenden by seeing to their attendance at a Christian church, encouraging them to study the Word, sending them to church camp (going as a councilor himself), and taking them for piano lessons. The family had many gatherings during the year with most all in attendance but a favored time was a visit to the Sunken Gardens at least once during the summer with just Mom, Lorraine, Cheryl and Ann. The Sunken Gardens being a place of such importance to them is the reason Mikes family plans to have a brick at the garden for his remembrance. Mike is survived by his Mother Kathleen Summers (Mike), brothers Matthew Flowers, Larry Walsh (Brenda), sisters Lorraine Walsh, Ann Vela, Cheryl Gerstenschlager, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
