Born in Minneapolis, Lois grew up anchored in a strong and abiding Christian faith. She went on to attend Gustavus Adolphus College, where she met the love of her life, Glenn Warren Mauston. Together they shared 68 years of marriage—years filled with partnership, perseverance and laughter. They built a home in Virginia, Minnesota and on Lake Vermilion where they were blessed with three children they called "The 3 J's".

Lois taught Food Occupations at Mt. Iron High School where she inspired countless students. She also started a restaurant within the high school, an achievement so notable that the Governor of MN visited and was impressed. Her entrepreneurial spirit also led her to transform an old church into a fun tourist stop, creating a restaurant and gift shop named Country Roads.

After retirement, Lois and Glenn moved to Florida, where they embraced new adventures and traveled extensively. She especially loved cruises, and making friends around the world.

Never one to be too serious, Lois attended Clown College and became known as Luffly the Clown, bringing joy and laughter to many children. She was also a Stephen Minister, walking alongside others and sharing Christ's love through presence, compassion, and care.

Lois is survived by her husband, Glenn; her children, Julie (Mike) Kemp, Jeff (Lynn) Mauston, and Jill (Clayton) Petersen. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Emily, Sarah, Casey, Cody, Callie, Samantha, Ashley, Logan, and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to their friends at Hillcrest Highlands and Care Initiatives. They will forever be grateful for the care and comfort that was given to Lois in her final days.

A celebration of Lois's life will be held at 1:00 on July 11, 2026 in the Highview Pub on the 3rd floor at Hillcrest Highlands, 10890 S. 208th St, Gretna, NE 68028 (livestream link to follow).
