Jonathan Michael Jacobs
October 1, 1984-March 16, 2022
Jonathan was born to Steve and Nancy Jo (Shaffer) Jacobs and was raised in De Soto, Missouri, where he met his life-long friends the D-Town Crew. They enjoyed creating new games including frisbee court, bandana survivor and filming many short videos over the years. Upon graduating high school, Jonathan moved to Nebraska where he graduated with high honors in 2008 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in horticulture.
Jonathan met his wife Emily Dietzschold at UNL and they were married on July 20, 2013 at Sapphire Point, Colorado. Emily and Jonathan made their home in Lincoln where they fixed up their house and raised Milo, their Australian Shepherd. Jonathan was a member of the Holmes Lake Sailing Club, Rutt Stuff and Fluffy Pillows.
Jonathan worked as a landscape designer at Finke Gardens and a computer programer at Triumph Home Health Supplies. Jonathan's passion was to learn new things both personally and professionally. He loved a project, the more intricate or difficult the better. His main passion was pottery, but he also loved woodworking, plants and building things to fix up the house. Jonathan was known for his kindness and goofy sense of humor. He was always willing to listen if a friend needed help and offer encouragement.
Jonathan passed away after a 18-month battle with cancer. Jonathan is preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Jo Jacobs. He is survived by his wife Emily and father Steve Jacobs. A celebration of life will be held on April 23 from 12:00-4:00pm at Auld Pavillion, 1650 Memorial Drive, Lincoln, NE. Lunch will be served followed by a service at 1:00pm. Memorials may be given to Save the Redwoods League or Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center. Jonathan's pottery will be available for purchase at jmjmade.com
