Janice Rae
Stuckenschmidt
Feb 11, 1933 — Jul 30, 2026
Janice Rae Stuckenschmidt passed away July 30, 2026 at her home in Lincoln, NE surrounded by her family. Janice was born February 11, 1933, to Ray Wallis and Esther (Lander) Malmberg at Buis Memorial Hospital in Pender. Janice attended rural school and graduated from Pender High School in 1950, then attended Midland College in Fremont.
On June 28, 1953, she married Dale Stuckenschmidt at the First Presbyterian Church in Pender. While Dale served in the Army, they lived briefly in Baltimore, MD. In August, she returned to Pender to teach. He followed in October after his discharge.
In the spring of 1954, they moved to a farm north of Wisner. After raising the family and managing the farm, Janice thrived by working at the Wisner and surrounding area post offices, retiring after almost 25 years. She also kept herself busy with church groups, sewing, card clubs, coffee with friends, and made the best peaches and cream pie, cookies, and all kinds of goodies.
In 1996, Dale and Janice sold the farm and moved to Lincoln to be closer to Rilla and Ronda and their families, while shortening the drive for frequent visits to Ray and his family in Colorado. Dale and Janice enjoyed traveling, especially gatherings that included all of their kids and grandkids, and always came home with entertaining stories.
Janice is survived by her children: Ray (Deb) Stuckenschmidt, Rilla Norby, and Ronda (Dennis) Alexander. Nine grandchildren: Lindy Stuckenschmidt, Lee (Debi) Stuckenschmidt; Andrea (David) Lundberg, Eric (Jill) Norby, Jennifer (Taylor) Burkey, Justin (Becky) Vietz, Jordan Vietz, Matt (Shanna) Alexander and Ryan (Vanessa) Alexander. Fourteen great-grandchildren: Adlyn; Graham, Mason and Asher; Eizley and Lainey; Daynen, Ellison, Bentley, McKinley and Rylyn; Kirsti (Owen), KayCee (Jae) and Carson. Two great-great-grandchildren: Harper and Hudson.
She is also survived by her sisters Sharon Bremer and Carmen (Jeff) Hoffman; and her sister-in-law Colleen Malmberg.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband Dale; her parents Esther and Wallis Malmberg; brother Dale; brother-in-law Bob Bremer; sister and brother-in-law Arlene and John Koski; Dale's parents Edith and William Stuckenschmidt; and his sister and brother-in-law Lorane and Bill McManigal.
