DUANE "KORK" BULLOCK was born on July 14, 1939, to Howard and Marjorie Bullock in Fremont, NE. At the age of 2, Kork's father passed away. His sisters Marge and Alice were a big part of his life. As Kork entered high school he lived with his sister Marge, her husband Mike and their family. Kork grew up in the Fremont area and graduated from Fremont High School in 1957. In high school he reconnected with a childhood friend, Gloria Loewe and they were united in marriage on March 1, 1959. Kork and Gloria lived in Fremont their entire life. On May 20, 1961, they welcomed their daughter Lynne and June 1, 1963, they welcomed their son Troy.
In Kork's early years of life he was a brick layer and was very well known for his perfection of building fireplaces. He joined the Fremont Fire Department in 1968 and retired in 1993. One of the things Kork really wanted to do was to drive a semi. He drove an oil transport for 20 years for Rawhide Chemoil. He then had a propane route for Adams Oil. After retirement, he continued working part-time with Adams fueling trains. While Kork always worked hard, he enjoyed his family and during the later years had fun with his grandchildren and loved watching his great grandchildren.
Kork loved anything that had an engine! His love of cars, he often referred to as a "disease", which was handed down to his son. He loved riding motorcycles. Kork and Troy made a several motorcycle trips together. When Troy was 9, Kork was letting Troy drive the motorcycle with Kork behind. For Lynne, she has many memories of Kork and his unconditional love … when she flunked speech, digging her out of a blizzard after missing curfew, crashing the scooter and his hero like quality of coming to the rescue when Lynne's VW started on fire.
On February 6, 2021, Kork made his journey to Heaven. By his side was his wife Gloria, Lynne and her husband Dave and Troy and his wife Tara.
He is also survived by his sister Alyce Petersen; grandson Alex and his wife Melissa and their three children, Raelynn, Emily, and Liam: and his two granddaughters, Alyssa and Taylor. Kork was preceded in death by his parents; sister Marge Jensen; brothers-in-law Mike Jensen and Wesley Petersen; and nephew Michael Jensen.
