Donald E. "Slug" Smith passed away at his home surrounded by family on April 21, 2021. Donald was born in Saunders County on March 25, 1924 to Henry and Mary Ellen (McMartin) Smith. He graduated from Cedar Bluffs schools. Donald enjoyed driving truck and purchased his own semi and started over the road fuel transportation which he continued for 30 years. Along with his work, Slug also enjoyed singing in the choir and volunteering at St Mary's in Cedar Bluffs. In 1987 Donald married Delores Rohwer and they spent their lives in Donald's family home in Cedar Bluffs. Having no children of their own, they haelped raise a niece and nephew and their children. Donald is survived by his wife, Delores. 3 nieces on from his brother, Janet Whitley, Diane Sukstorf and Linda Nuding along with immediate family, Larry (Anissa) Rohwer, Jordin (Tyler) Vance and Dezerea Flagle Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Roland (Rocky) Smith; and niece Naomi Knudson. Memorial services will be held at Noon Wednesday, April 28 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cedar Bluffs. A reception will follow. Please send memorials in care of the family.
