Basil Vasi Scherbak beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle passed away on Saturday, March 30th, 2024 at 76. He was born the 2nd child on May 9th, 1947 in Hamburg, Germany to Elia and Olga (Mandrika). After graduating Lincoln High School 1965, he went on to marry his sweetheart Anna Kot (Moeller) they had 2 children. After the marriage ended he never married again. Basil worked at Cushman Motors, Regional Center, and Burlington Northern. He always thrived for knowledge and took several classes in Electronics. He was a lover of music and arts he did some creating himself. He loved his family and always tried to find the good in people. Basil is survived by his 2 daughters and their families eldest daughter Susie Roberts (Bob) Lincoln, NE their children Nicole Kinnarnan (Tony), Elizabeth Roberts, Chirstopher Roberts (Cassandra), yougest daughter Tracy Luepnitz (Mark) Mt. Vernon, WA their children Tatiana Luepnitz, Brianna Luepnitz, sister Lydia Brash (Lee) West Point, NE, brother John Scherbak (Betty) Lincoln, NE and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by mother Olga Layton, father Elia Scherbak, step father Francis Layton, brother Jack Scherbak, ex-wife Anna (Kot) Moeller, sister in law Mary Scherbak Jones.

Graveside services at Fairview Cemetery on April 19th, 2024 at 11:00 am for family members will be officiated by Hieromonk Nektarios (Shapoval) Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church Lincoln, NE.
